I recently spoke of my love affair with Ralph Lauren shirting, particularly a blue & white striped relaxed linen shirt, which I adored wearing during summer. Today on the blog, I’m going back to another shirt I’ve recently purchased from Ralph Lauren Polo which has also stolen my heart – a navy & white gingham slim fit button down. I’m a devoted fan of blue & white, particularly navy, and often prefer pieces in this darker shade of blue than black, as I feel it suits me much more.
Styled with a pair of white jeans, this polished & preppy combo is ultra versatile. It’s a look which can be worn throughout multiple seasons (especially the transitional ones) and will also manage to do double duty as a classic weekend go-to or a relaxed casual Friday outfit. In fact, the shirt itself could be called an investment piece because it would fit right in an office environment too! The slim fit design of this shirt lends a classic vibe and the colours match wonderfully with my existing wardrobe palette.
For this outfit, I styled the gingham shirt with my white jeans & block heel sandals. A navy belt offset the blue tones in the shirt, whilst the beige Chloe bag stands out amidst the simple nautical colour palette. Gingham check in navy & white is timeless and can pair with a variety of neutral accessories, so the ease of styling back with something you probably already own is obvious. This shirt actually has long sleeves, but I decided to roll mine up to the elbows for a more casual & relaxed vibe.
I honestly love everything about this piece – from the crisp collar to the feel of the material. The shirt was from Ralph Lauren Polo’s Summer collection and was available in a few colour-ways, including black & white, green & white and red & white. The red & white gingham was also lovely; ultimately I ended up going with the navy & white as I felt that would work well with the abundance of navy items I already own in my wardrobe. I’ve already shared how much I adore the preppy style in Ralph Lauren Polo’s collections, in this article. When it comes to shirts, I really can’t recommend their products enough and I know this particular purchase will be on high rotation in my wardrobe for many years to come!
