US award-winning international nightlife brand Hyde (Sbe) recently opened up it’s third venue in Australia, with the launch party for Hyde Hacienda Sydney Bar + Lounge and I was lucky enough to be invited. The launch party kicked off in true Hyde style whilst still keeping true to Hacienda’s 1950’s Miami aesthetics – a millennial pink carpet, high-profile guests & celebrities arriving by super yacht, DJ Havana Brown on the deck and plenty of theatrics during the night. Let’s take a closer look at the new Hyde Hacienda Bar + Lounge and why this gorgeous place is a must visit for Sydney locals and visitors to the harbour city!
My favourite bar in Sydney
Prior to the launch of Hyde Hacienda, Hacienda was quite simply my favourite cocktail bar in Sydney. Located within the Pullman Grand hotel and with open-air and sweeping floor to ceiling panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, there simply is no better spot to relax with friends whilst sipping on cocktails and enjoying the sun as it sets over the harbour bridge. Also, the interior design is simply just #Instagoals! When a bar has earned accolades such as Most Instamgrammable Cocktail in Australia (Daily Mail) and voted as one of the 12 Most Instagrammable Restaurants in the World (Vogue) you know that they are doing something right here…
Hyde Hacienda’s superior nightlife vibes
With Hyde’s expansion of Hacienda bar, this brings guests much needed expanded seating & private booth hire, table service, DJ’s on weekends and typical lavish theatrics like the ones seen at the launch party. When Ferrari’s were outside the hotel’s entrances for this event, you just knew you were about to experience something every special. Hyde have got a pretty great track record too with plenty of experience in the nightlife scene. Opening their first location back in 2006 in Los Angeles, they have now expanded to include Hyde Beach at SLS South Beach in Miami, Hyde Bellagio in Las Vegas, Hyde at T-Mobile arena, Hyde American Airlines arena, Hyde Lounge at STAPLES Center, Hyde Paradiso on the Gold Coast and Hyde Perth.
Instagram worthy food & drink
The event had a spectacular range of canapes and drinks, including beverages by Veuve Clicquot, Aix Rose and Moet Hennessy. The bar staff were amazing, creating cocktails to order and serving up new ones created by Tim Philips-Johansson, one of Australia’s most awarded mixologists (Sweet&Chilli). Some of the cocktails included:
La Fiesta de Fuego – Appleton Estate rum, apricot brandy, guava juice, lime juice, Falernum & cranberry bitters;
Monks Secret to Happiness – Dom Benedictine, passionfruit puree, raspberry syrup, Beefeater 24, lemon juice & raspberry bitters;
Campfire Espresso Martini – House-made marshmallow vodka, Kahlua, marshmallow syrup & coffee;
Top of the Town Punch – Ciroc vodka, Capaletti, pineapple juice, Crawley’s Orgeat, lime juice, sparkling wine.
The canapes were from a taster menu created specifically for the event and included tuna & avocado tacos, freshly shucked oysters, tempura pumpkin flowers, crispy spiced calamari, hot fried chicken sliders and shrimp rolls.
A night to remember
Attending this launch has been one of my favourite events of 2019 and I cannot wait to return. With over 170 people in attendance at this epic location and free flowing champagne, having the chance to mix with celebrities, high profile guests, Sydney creatives & influencers was incredible. Celebrity publicist Roxy Jacenko kicked off the evening with a speech and DJ Havana Brown played an exclusive set whilst Scotty Sax kept us on the dancefloor.
Other guests in attendance included Jack Vidgen (former Australia’s Got Talent winner), The Block’s Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie as well as contestants from TV programs Love Island and Married at First Sight. Sparklers with champagne-gun parades, fruit punch kegs and Don Perignon bottles up in lights were some of the theatrics that enhanced the evening and had all of us not wanting to leave!
For me, the best part was really just getting the opportunity to attend and to catch up with my fellow Sydney creatives & Instagram mates, surrounded by awesome music, drinking delicious cocktails and watching the evening set in over my home city of Sydney. I didn’t think Hacienda could get any better…but it certainly has thanks to Hyde’s magic touch. Keep an eye out on my Instagram feed because I have a feeling I’m going to be spending a lot more time at this place over the coming summer!
